Travel Insurance

Insurance should always be a consideration when travelling. It protects against the worst of the consequences if you are forced to cancel, experience travel delays, or have an accident that requires expensive medical treatment.

While the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC, from the Post Office in the UK) provides considerable health cover throughout most of Europe, and is something that all travellers should carry as a matter of course it does not pay for repatriation by air ambulance, nor for a family member to travel to be with you in hospital, even if recommended by medical staff. Nor does it necessarily provide cover in non EU countries.

Most cheap flights, too, are completely unrefundable once paid for, so if you have to change or cancel flights, you can end up seriously out of pocket.

If you book a holiday from us, it is a legal requirement that we advise you that you can buy travel insurance to cover you while on holiday, and by signing our booking form you are confirming that you have received this advice.

We neither sell travel insurance ourselves, nor do we have a special arrangement with any insurance company (as the vast number of our customers have already made their own arrangements), but if you are flying on your holiday, it is worth considering that the Post Office offers one of the few policies that includes scheduled airline failure.
